Coming up for the
Season 2011-2012
Teen Theatre
July 11-July 30, 2011
The first production for this season will be teen theatre, a program for teens from 6th grade to 12th grade.
Production will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30th.
This year the workshop will be directed by Chris Cowan a former teen theatre and Duncan Little Theatre participant who is now a college student studying musical theatre.
The play selection is still to be determined.
"Tuna Does Vegas"
July 15,16,
Tuna Does Vegas
, the hilarious new installment from the legendary Greater Tuna creative team! Tuna Does Vegas re-unites the lovable and eccentric characters from the ‘third smallest town in Texas’ as they take a rambling romp in Sin City. The hilarity begins when oddball-conservative radio host Arles Struvie announces on air that he and his wife Bertha Bumiller are heading to Vegas to renew their wedding vows...but everyone in Tuna, Texas goes along for the ride! Written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, Tuna Does Vegas will feature the favorite characters from the award-winning Greater Tuna productions with some new characters too!
Tuna Does Vegas
balances as both an affectionate comment on small-town life and attitudes as well a hilarious satire of the same. The eclectic band of citizens that make up this town are portrayed by only two actors, making this send-up on life in rural America even more delightful as they depict all of the inhabitants of Tuna -- men, women, as well as Vegas showgirls, Elvis impersonators and more! Here We Sit
By L. Don Swartz
Performed two weekends in Marlow and once in Comanche—September 16,17, 23 & 24 as a dessert only event with the dinner theater scheduled for October 1st at Asbury in Comanche.
Here is an outrageous comedy for community theatres that puts the audience on the hot seat! A series of sixteen, quick-paced scenes illuminate the joys and tribulations of the modern theatre-going experience. In "An Audience of One," a single theatre patron delivers an impassioned monologue to convince the actors to perform the show just for her. The scene, "What the Crowd Is Thinking," allows us to hear the real thoughts of an audience sitting through an uninspired performance. In "Uber Ushers," a band of ushers, driven to the brink of madness by the boorish behavior of an audience, stages a ferocious uprising to reclaim their theatre. The scenes are propelled by two feisty old ladies, Lottie and Bernice, who keep popping up to express their contempt for the theatre, all the while snacking from enormous purses stuffed with groceries and candy, wrapped in crinkling paper, of course!

"It's a Wonderful Life" December 9, 10, 11 (Sunday matinee)
Drama. Adapted for the stage by James W. Rodgers. Based on the film by Frank Capra.
Cast: 12m., 10w. (2 boys, 2 girls, doubling possible.)
In our American culture It's a Wonderful Life has become almost as familiar as Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The story is a natural for a stage adaptation: the saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty, whose guardian angel has to descent on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind himby showing him what the world would have been like had he never been bornthat his has been, after all, a wonderful life. This faithful adaptation has all your favorite characters: George and Mary Hatch, Clarence, Uncle Billy, Violet, and, of course, the Scrooge-like villain, Mr. Potter. This fine dramatization not only celebrates the faith of the season, it also celebrates the American philosophy of life: hard work, fair play and the love and support of one's family and community will be rewarded.
